Once, my son asked me if there was anything from my childhood that I wished he and his sister had experienced. After some thought, I told him that I wished they had greater exposure to our indigenous culture. I hoped they and their children would learn to speak our Ojibwe language, to hear it spoken, to listen to the stories, to visit our ancestral lands, and know to get to know more of our relatives. This question lingered for me over the years. It is through storytelling that I am able to share these experiences with them and others.
